Our House

The Alpha Omicron Pi, Iota Sigma Chapter house is located at 2007 Greeley Street, Ames, Iowa. Construction of the house was completed in 1969, making it one of the newer houses in the Iowa State Greek community.

The house provides a spacious and inviting environment for chapter members to live, study, and conduct business. Some of the highlights of the house include:

  • Living Room- This large formal living room is complete with baby grand piano and fire place. This room is used for a comfortable place to meet, talk, or enjoy at all times.
  • Dining Room- This room is where the women take their meals. This room features a large number of round dining tables and a large bay window.
  • Snack Room- This convenient room features a bistro table, microwave, pizza oven, coffee maker, refrigerator, and pop machine.
  • Laundry Room- This room features two washers, two driers, a large sink for hand washing, shelves for storing all detergent and irons, a large ironing board and drying rack.
  • TV Room- This room was also newly remodeled. It is a great place for relaxing and features a TV, VCR, DVD player and cable television access.
  • Study Room- This 24 hour quiet room features tables and chairs and excellent lighting for a great study place. The chapter also maintains test files and bulletin boards featuring helpful study tips.
  • Computer Lab- The lab features several computers, a laser printer, scanner, CD burner, and wireless internet access.
  • Chapter Room- This very spacious room is where we conduct business and meetings. It also has large tables and is very well lit and can be used as an excellent place to study or draw.
  • Bedrooms- The bedrooms on second and third floors are where we live. These rooms feature bunk beds, large closets with sliding doors, two desks, two dressers, ceiling fans, wireless high speed Internet access and wired Internet access. New in 2006: All rooms now have brand new bedroom furniture. Third floor rooms also have window seats. Our chapter houses members two to a room to ensure optimal privacy and opportunity for study.
  • Mom’s Apartment- Our house mother is a great asset to the house. She oversees a great deal of the function of the house and takes a genuine interest in our lives and activities. She lives in an apartment on the first floor and is there to help all members whenever she can.
  • Meals- We receive catered meals for lunch and dinner and have a continental breakfast of bagels, cereals, yogurt, juice, and coffee in the mornings. On the weekends we have an open kitchen or often members go out to eat together.
  • Kitchen- Although our meals are catered, we still have a need for a large kitchen that is used on the weekends and special occasions. We have cooking equipment and a commercial dishwasher.
  • Air Conditioning- The first floor and basement of the chapter house is air conditioned. This is a very nice feature during the hot early fall and spring months.
  • Cleaning Service- Our chapter has a wonderful cleaning woman, Kim, who has been cleaning the common areas of the chapter house for years.
  • Parking Lot- Our house has a newly expanded parking lot with 33 spots for use of members who meet grade and activity requirements, as well as 3 visitor spots for our guests.  We also have a new patio complete with a brick walkway and new landscaping.
